Scleral Buckle Surgery
What is Scleral Buckle Surgery?
This is a time-tested procedure to treat retinal detachments. A tiny silicone band is placed around the eye (on the outside) to gently push the eye wall inward and support the retina.
How it works
It relieves the pull on the retina and helps seal any tears, often in combination with laser or cryotherapy and sometimes even a vitrectomy surgery.
What to expect
This is a surgical procedure done in the operating room. The buckle is not visible and usually stays in place permanently. Most patients notice gradual improvement in vision during recovery.
